[And she doesn't bother to smirk. She's just going to full on grin at him.]

I can't recall a single argument between us which ended in sex.

Well, to be fair 99.8% of our arguments happened either when we weren't having sex or when we weren't having sex because of my stupid ribs. So that's probably why.

[Alex just smirks at him.]

Or because you don't want to have sex in your office.

[She had a point, one that he'd already thought of, and while he had no issues mentioning his past to her, she seemed to become unnecessarily aggravated when thinking about Coralee and his past with her.]

I'd thought you'd want to inform Jeff that I don't 'hate you'.

[Alex had assumed that he'd definitely had make up sex with Coralee. After all, the two of them were married for thirteen years, and had been seeing one another before that so of course there were make up sex and grief sex and every other kind of sex you can imagine. Alex doesn't mind that, because it's the past. Hell, she definitely has. Which was the reason why she called him a liar.

But then Alex's cheeks just go scarlet, then her ears, then her chest before she just buries her face into his chest. Because well... one doesn't expect your significant other to actually read conversations like the one she'd had with Jeff. And because sometimes Alex can be a girl worried about the boy she loves hating her.

So what comes out is a muffled:]

Oh my gawd.

[Well that was a satisfying reaction. One he expected since it was often her reaction to his knowing things she didn't want him to see. It didn't make it any less enjoyable. In fact, he very readily laughs at her embarrassment.]

[There's no heat in the words, even if they do come from against his shirt still, and the color isn't showing any signs of fading.]

[He'd wrap his arms around her, but they're currently pinned to his chest by her face.]

[She pulls away from him enough to wrap her arms around his neck.]

[He takes the opportunity to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her closer.]

Yeah, well, it's still my taste, Dr. Strand. And I wouldn't change it for anything.

[She's just going to smile at him again, and then trace his cheek with her thumb.]

[There was a lot that she could have if he wasn't in her life. Not the least of which was a normal life without demonology and cults and disappearing wives. She could be fake ghost hunting and be thinking it was real instead of dealing with things like Simon Reese.]

They're still poor.

[He leans down to kiss her lightly.]

[If he ever asked if she would rather have a normal life or this, Alex's answer would be immediate and it would be simple and without a doubt: she'd rather have this. Hands down.

So she just laughs as she kisses him back.]

Says the man who got entangled with an insufferable reporter who wouldn't leave him alone.

[That would be a low blow if there wasn't quantifiable proof that he'd tried to get rid of her or ignore her on multiple occasions.]

Completely her fault.

Oh yeah, definitely. She's entirely too annoyingly persistent for her own good. And yours too, I suppose.

[She knows that she went to Chicago and dragged him back, and reached out with the case with Simon, but he's also come back too. In some ways, the two of them are just on a rubber band that they keep stretching out onto to be drawn back together.]

So, love, are you done with work?

There have been occasions when I'd have preferred to walk away.

[Hey, she knows it's true.]

And I am.

Well, you're glad you didn't though, right?

[Alex sounds fairly confident about that, considering everything. But she doesn't think that the two of them would have been able to walk away for long.]

There is a strong case for it being beneficial.

[The way he phrased it made Alex grin, because it couldn't not.]

[Before she draws away, wrapping her hand with his.]

The day you're actually accommodating is the day I believe in this demon nonsense.

[He curls his fingers around hers, pushing off from the desk.]

I do have to cook for Simon and Stan.

Hey, I would say I can be pretty accommodating in some things, Richard. Just not in the ones you'd prefer me to be in.

[Like that whole not telling anyone about stuff thing. And that not believing in demons thing. And the not being annoying thing. But those are all things that make Alex Alex so there's that.

And she nods before she counters:]

Or there's pizza. Pizza never hurt anyone, and we can get it cheese for Stan.

I've yet to find a way. And cheese pizza isn't kosher.
